Miss McHenry Just Playin' Around

Class of 2013 and Miss McHenry, Maculey came into Johnston Photography, for her senior portraits, just before we moved the studio. In fact we actually went over to the new yard and photographed her in this dress in the snow. She is a brave young lady. It was COLD out. 

This dress was so much fun for us to play around with. The wings are amazing. I just let her dance around while I kept shooting. Here is an Art Strip that will be going into their home.

Help Save The Boobies!!

Let’s see if together we can’t help “Save the Boobies”

I did this walk a few years ago. It is such an amazing event and such an important cause. Thru the years Johnston Photography has known several women effect by this disease. My step mother has gone thru surgery and treatment twice. Last time at 84 years old. Many have gone on to live wonderfully full lives, but some have not. I have chosen to make this offer for all of them. By the way my step mom is over 90 and doing well.

 

Here is my proposal to everyone. I am willing to offer drawing for sessions and products from Johnston Photography to those willing to do just a couple of things.

It's NEW and LIVE!

I have been trying to get a new website up and running for a VERY LONG TIME! Well I am so excited to let everyone know that the new Johnston Photography website www.sjohnstonphotography.com became LIVE late Thursday. I will be making a few changes and updates over the next couple of weeks. Always tweekin things.  This is where YOU come in. What would you like to see? What is it you are looking for when you visit a site? I really want feedback on this. I look at it as a photographer not as a consumer. I need the input in order to make it work for everyone. Miss Crystal Lake 2013

The Results Are In!!

I would like to congratulate all of this years contestants for the Little Miss Crystal Lake and Miss Crystal Lake Pageant that was held at Hanna Beardsly Middle School this evening.

What a great group of young ladies. They all did an amazing job on stage. Too bad they could not all walk away with the title. But they could not, so here are the results for the 2013 Scholarship Pageant.

Save the Date Cards @ Johnston Photography

Being a professional photographer for so many years defiantly has its perks. I have gotten to watch so many families in the Crystal Lake area grow and change. People I have known since they were tiny children, growing up and reaching all those milestones. One such person is Stephanie Calder. Her mom brought her and her big brothers to me way back when I worked in my “lower level”. The basement for those who don’t remember those days. She was just a toddler back then. A couple of years ago she came to me for her senior pictures, and I thought that was crazy. How could she be all grown up? Well, now she is planning a wedding in Sept.!! She and her wonderful husband to be came in for their engagement pictures. It was so nice to get to see them together and how much they love each other. I am so looking forward to photographing their wedding in Sept.

Last Minute Spring Special

SO, with the move we didn't think we could also take on a Spring Portrait Special. Ha ha ha ha! OH silly me! Here is our LAST MINUTE SPECIAL. This Saturday, 3/23, we are offering a $50, session fee and special packages.

We have life-like bunnies and this very springy background. Our bunnies will not bite, scratch or make a mess. However they have made some little ones nervous, they are that real looking.

Let's Go Vote!!

Well folks it is that time of year again. The Little Miss and Miss Crystal Lake Pageant. The ladies have been working towards the pageant since January. The main focus is to select a well -rounded young lady to represent her community. She will not only be in the July 4^th parade, but be active in many events with the park district and the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.

 

Things are a little different than last year. The pageant is of this coming Friday at Hanna Beardsley Middle School at 7pm. The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $5. at the door.

The voting for Photogenic in the past has been done during the Crystal Lake Expo. This year it is being done on-line at the following sites.

We have a great group of girls and young women for the 2013. We enjoyed a fun evening at the studio photographing each of the girls and in groups.

NEW LOCATION in Crystal Lake

Hello Everyone!

Well it is official, we are IN our new location! Not together and organized yet, but we are getting there! The new place is  just a block down from where we were. We are now in a quante little red house, with a front porch and a wonderful yard. We now have areas inside great for natual light portraits. Something we have been wanting for a long time.  We have most definately reduced the amount of STUFF we have but what a great feeling that is!! Also we will still be happy to come to the location of your choice.

When the dust settles and the weather starts getting warmer, we will have an open house so everyone can stop in and see all that is new at Johnston Photography. We have some excting new product and sessions types.

Our new address is 112 S. E. Virginia Rd. Across from Crystal Lake Ski and Bike, kitty corner from Nick Pizza.

Everyday Work in Image Competition (4 for 4)

For those here that know me and what I do, you know I am crazy about Image Competition. I love presenting images I have created to panels of judges. Today and tomorrow is what is known as the North Central District Competition. Many of my photographer friends chose to photograph models with particular competition ideas in mind. I too have done that. This year I chose to only enter images from my every day client portrait sessions. We are allowed to enter 4 image. I am so excited to say that ALL 4 images did well. All 4 have recieved a seal and will move on to the Professional Photographers of America International Photographic Competition  this summer. Going 4 for 4 is no easy feat, and I feel so blessed to have acheived this this year. I could not have done it tho, without clients that trust me to create lasting memories for them. I would like to thank the Pearls, Stahls, Hatfields, and Simmons.

I would love to share the images with you all, but since they are going on to another competition I have to wait. Impact is one of the elements the judges evaluate, so I do not want to risk it being seen and soften the impact. Also if a judge knows tha maker they can not vote on the image. But August 2nd, when the International Judging is complete I will have them here to share with everyone.
