Graduation time is upon us once again. It has been such a great year around here for Johnston Photography Senior Portraits. We met some wonderful seniors from Marion Central, Cary Grove, Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake South, Crystal Lake Central, Jacobs High School and others including home schooled seniors as well. Johnston Photography brought in some new products and graduation announcement designs. One of our favorites this year was a composit that is slightly different from ones of the past. Custom Holiday Cards at Johnston Photography
Johnston Photography in Crystal Lake is humming along now days. Deep in the Holiday Season, Sarah is putting together Holiday Greeting Cards for several of her clients. Johnston Photography offers predesigned and custom cards in a variety of sizes, for all occassions. It is not too late for children or family portraits to include on and in cards. Custom Composites Always Available! {Senior Portraits Crystal Lake}
Senior portraits at Johnston Photography are all about the individual. We offer several pre-designed collages, but they do not always "fit" for clients. When that happens we design a custom collage for them. The client chooses the images and overall size they want, then I get to design it for them. This one for Melissa was based on another designer we offer. Because of the images she selected I had to do a little rearranging to make this work. The finished size is a 12x24 and comes with a simple black frame.

The Coolest New Product! {Childrens Portraits Crystal Lake}
Carol and I are so excited to let you know about THE coolest new product since the accordion books. Tho the basic idea of this has been around for sometime, we chose to wait until we found a supplier that could give us a high quality product. The wait is over!!! The Image Box has arrived @ Johnston Photography! This box is made from real wood, not plastic or cardboard like so many others on the market. You may select and image for the front cover and the inside cover. So far we are offering them in a 5x7 format, with other sizes coming soon. They are perfect as a keepsake holder for you childrens memories. Clippings from a first haircut, first tooth, birth announcement, hospital ID bracelet...... Classic Black and White Portraits{Crystal Lake Photographer}
Black and White photographs still have that wonderful timeless quality about them. I know that right now bright, vibrant colors are "in". I like a lot of it for a lot of different things, but for portraits, nothing beats a well lit, simple black and white. These are two of my current favorites. They are brothers. 2 out of the 4 Etling boys. Actually #2 & #4. Great kids! Connor, the older one, is a very talented young man. He really know his way around power tools. He has a real passion for cars also. Next summer I am thinking he will be due for portraits with his Camaro. I have the perfect shot in mind for him too. He's gonna LOVE it!!! That will also be black and white but with some grain on it too. Super contemporary yet timeless.

Thanksgiving { Crystal Lake Photography}
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I know it was yesterday but I was on a computer hiatus! A very tuff thing for me it seems. Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with family and friends, face to face or on the phone. Something about personal contact that is so much better than just via the computer. Families grow and change so fast. When was the last time you stopped time? Preserved the memory of your family as they are at a certain stage in their lives? Family portraits, childrens portraits are the perfect way to do just that. I know that my job, my profession is to create the images that evoke all of the emotion those memories can bring. On a personal note though, I truly treasure the portraits of my children that hang on the walls all over my home. Their lives have taken them to other states to live so we don't see each other often, but I can look up and see them anytime I want. It helps, trust me!
With the holidays upon us, now is the time to consider preserving your memories. Portraits also make such wonderful gifts for parents and grandparents. We offer so much more than just prints now too. Sisters Senior Portraits
These are the Minor sisters. They graduated a few years apart, and I was fortunate enough to create their senior portraits. When their parents came in to order for the younger sister they asked for the same treatment as the older one. They just love the look. Although cameras have changed and computers have upgraded it is nice to know that the effects can still be the same. This is an infrared look. In the film days infrared film was tuff to work with. Had to keep it in total darkness when loading into the camera, store it in the fridge, and when using it it would occupy it's own camera because you could not jump back and forth with different films in 1 camera. Some miss those days, not me! I love I can produce the same effect on the computer, change ISO mid session if I need to, and create tons of products that either could not have been done or would have cost a small fortune with film. I just love technology!!
